A few years ago, the AI at Google was about as fast and athletic as the stereotypical programmer who built the thing. It would take days, even weeks or months, for some campaigns to “dial in”. Wild costs per click were cited as “outliers”. $96 cost per click?!? Yeah….that’s an outlier. 😬
 
Today, this AI guy has grown into a mix between Will Hunting and Hussain Bolt. In other words, he’s super smart AND fast.
 
This means you no longer have to be a ninja programmer to build a solid Google Ads campaign (the platform that runs YouTube Ads).
 
It also means the days of paying agencies “babysitting” fees are nearing their end.
 
Getting started is as simple as loading creative, tick a few options in targeting and be patient for a few days.
 
Key word being PATIENCE.
 
Let’s break this down into steps.
 
To get started, you need 6 things.
 
1. A Google Ads account -> https://ads.google.com
2. A YouTube Channel
3. Good video creative.
4. Spot On Targeting.
5. Ad budget
6. Patience.
 
Step 1 – A Google Ads Account
 
The easiest step by far. Visit https://ads.google.com and sign up for a Google account.
 
CAUTION: It will make you build a campaign before you can enter billing info. This campaign will immediately be pushed live. Pause the campaign the second you enter billing or you could be charged for clicks that will likely happen that day.
 
Step 2 – A YouTube Channel
 
This can get a little hairy if you’re not careful. You’ll want to link your YouTube Account to you Google Ads account.

Step 3 – Good Video Creative
 
Now that we have the key accounts needed to run YouTube Ads, let’s talk about what video creative is ideal for YouTube.
